Sadly we left Santa Fe. But before we went far we took a detour to Abiquiu, NM where Georgia O’Keeffe lived. We weren’t able to tour her home.

Note…reservations needed they fill up quickly!

We were able to see Ghost Ranch and that beautiful landscape she famously painted. I fell in love with this place.

From there we took the road less traveled and saw some more lively landscape and the Rui Grande Gorge with one of the highest bridges on our way to an overnight in Taos. Roadtrippers did not disappoint. I found a very nice hotel high lighted on the route and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We will return to stay longer.

After a room service breakfast and a little shopping we continued on our way to Salida, Colorado to see family.

We had a fabulous 5 days including my birthday dinner cooked by Chef Ed, hot springs soak in the rain, snow, wine tasting, deer sightings, a really huge hike (Mt Shavano 14,230 ft) and just fun visiting.

It was sad but we were turning our car towards home. We needed to b-line for home.

This trip was just going too fast!

What you see below is the awe of the beauty as we crossed over the Red Pass to Durango. There are no words necessary.

Must mention lunch in Silverton though. Checked Roadtrippers as I am know to do now, and went to Handlebars food and Saloon. Yummy food, cream of green chile soup to die for and the ambiance was crazy fun.

I love this AP!
